Les
Vacances de Monsieur Hulot was released in 1953.
A Jacques Tati film,
that introduced the character of Monsieur Hulot and his adventures in France during his
summer vacation at a beach resort, it satires some elements of French political
and social classes.
It was shot almost
entirely in the tiny west-coast seaside village of Saint-Marc-sur-Mer
in the Loire Atlantique
region. The hotel, l'Hotel de la Plage in which Mr. Hulot stays apparently is still
there....
I love the holiday atmosphere and seaside images
captured in blanc et noir, thanks to the creative genius of actor/director
Jacques Tati.
